NINJA CPA Review

By Tyree

Tyree is a new NINJA CPA Blogger.

How are you doing NINJA CPA readers! My name is Tyree and I graduated from graduate school in August 2013, which is when my CPA journey began.

After getting my degree I wanted to begin taking the exams, but did not know where to start. So I started researching different review programs like I’m sure you all did and already felt overwhelmed.

After seeing some of the price tags on the more expensive CPA review programs in September 2013 I decided to self study for BEC, reading the books and doing some of the questions provided.

I took the exam in early November and I was encouraged because the questions seemed easier than the ones I had been studying. This optimism did not last long though when I received a 59 on my first BEC attempt.

After bombing BEC I did not want to even think about the CPA Exam. I completely stopped studying and thought that maybe I’m not just CPA material. While I was thinking this is I saw Jeff’s post on CPA Exam Failure: How to Recover and Retake.

For anyone who has taken or is about to take the exam this is a must read. All of the doubts and feelings I had were in this post and I realized that I needed to own my failure and study harder.

Now I have been studying since the beginning of March for FAR and will be using the NINJA Study framework this time along with the Wiley MCQs. This will be a long journey, but I am embracing it and only I can put the work in necessary to pass.

Until next time,
Tyree
