Social Security Number Requirement: Optional (a social security number is voluntary and used only for identification)

Wisconsin CPA Exam Education Requirements

Education Requirement for Licensure: 150 hours (including B.A.)

Participates in International Examination Program: Yes

Hours in accounting:

Graduate Degree: Concentration in Accounting. Graduate Degree from a business school: 24 semester hours or equivalent quarter hours in accounting at undergraduate level plus 15 hours in accounting at graduate level which includes financial accounting, auditing, taxation and management accounting.

B.A. Degree: 14 semester hours in accounting or equivalent quarter hours in accounting at undergraduate or graduate level which includes financial accounting, auditing, taxation and management accounting.

Exam sitting requirements: Must be within 60 days of completing education requirement

Experience requirements: 1 year experience of public accounting or its equivalent. Equivalent experience may be considered in government, industry, academia, law, self-employment (must be documented and presented in detail for Board consideration).

Ethics exam: Must pass the Wisconsin online ethics exam

If you’ve previously applied for the CPA Examination outside of our online application tool (via paper application or other method), you will need to import your previous application information. To do this, you will need to know the jurisdiction in which you sat for the examination as a first-time candidate, and your Jurisdiction ID Number. Registering for a user account will allow you to apply for the exam, maintain your current information, view your scores, check your application status and reprint your Notice(s) To Schedule.

Materials to be Submitted with Application

Official transcript(s). May be submitted by the candidate provided they are official.

International Evaluation, if applicable. Directly from evaluation agency to CPAES.

ADA Accommodation Form, if applicable. Submission by you to CPAES.

Please allow two to four weeks from your file completion date (when application, fees and all additional required materials have been received) for your application to be processed. Acknowledgment of receipt of application will be sent to you via email, unless otherwise indicated. This notice is sent only as acknowledgment of receipt of application.

If you have previously applied and sat but were currently enrolled in college at the time of application (Certificate of Enrollment form), you are NOT automatically considered a re-examination candidate.

Wisconsin CPA Exam Fee Schedule

You are required to pay a fee each time you submit an application. The total fee depends on the number of sections and the specific combination of sections taken.

You may apply for one or more sections of the examination at a time; however, you are advised to only apply for a section of the examination if you are ready to take it within the next six months.

All fees must be paid at the time the application is submitted and must be in U.S. dollars.
