Wyoming CPA Exam Education Requirements

Education Requirement for Licensure: Prior to 1/1/2012: B.A. Degree or 150 hours (including B.A.) Effective 1/1/2012: 150 hours including a BA

Participates in International Examination Program: Yes

Hours in accounting: B.A. Degree: 24 semester hours or equivalent quarter hours accounting courses which includes financial accounting, auditing, taxation and management accounting. Or 150 hours (including B.A. Degree): 24 semester hours or equivalent quarter hours in upper division or graduate accounting courses which includes business law, economics, management, marketing, finance, business communications, statistics, quantitative methods, technical writing, information systems or technology, ethics or other areas as may be determined by the Board.

Exam sitting requirements: Prior to 1/1/2012: 150 hours (must complete education requirement prior to sitting for exam) Effective 1/1/2012: 150 hours with BA degree must be completed ar documentation that the requirement willl be completed within 90 days of the application date.

Experience requirements: Prior to 1/1/2012: B.A. degree – 4 years experience in public accounting. On or after 1/1/2010: 150 hours (B.A. degree) – 1 year experience in public accounting. Effective 1/1/2012: 1 year experience in public accounting. All public accounting experience shall be gained through employment in government, industry, academia or the practice of public accounting.

Ethics exam: Must pass AICPA Professional Ethics Exam for initial licensure
